The Power of LightSpeed
Large scale pumping operations require a real-time control system that can manage each stage of the operation from a single screen. Utilized in the liquid transfer business, LightSpeed gives you complete control at your fingertips. Over the last 15 years, Puck Enterprises has designed, tested, implemented, and perfected LightSpeed. Puck's control system provides users with the best uptime and utilization of resources for the job. After four decades of experience transferring liquids, we know that balancing multiple pumps on a single line is one of the hardest parts of the job. That’s why we created LightSpeed.
“LightSpeed utilizes two different components,” says Matt Lindemann, Engineering Manager of Puck Enterprises. “Hardware aspects that reside locally on the apparatus or pumping equipment. And web technology housed in the Cloud to operate and monitor from anywhere.” Every pump from Puck comes standard equipped with the LightSpeed control system hardware. When enabled, LightSpeed allows you to monitor engines, gate statuses and positions, and operating parameters. The parameters are particular to your situation and give you information regarding your operation in near real time.
Matt says, “this happens by utilizing the embedded hardware that’s developed by our software team and utilizing rugged controls that are pushed to a web-based platform that allows multitasking opportunities for users to be able to see in multiple locations.” The control system is located on the side of Puck equipment with direct connection to the operation. From there, it’s connected to any enabled device for extended connection. “By utilizing web technology, remote users are able to monitor and supervise situations on the ground in near real time. This allows them to make decisions in the heat of the moment and be able to place resources as efficiently and effectively as possible.”
Knowledge (& Control!) at a Distance
The remote connection to LightSpeed isn’t just beneficial to your crew, it’s also helpful when seeking outside advice. Each application job is different based on terrain, geographical region, animal, and more. You can call your Puck salesman at any time for assistance on improving your pumping efficiency. Salesmen can view your operation parameters and site map in real time. They can provide expert advice on getting the most out of your equipment on the job.
Control isn’t the only benefit to the LightSpeed control system: the increased safety can provide peace of mind. Auto-Throttle allows the unit to regulate pressure, with preset inlet and outlet pressures helping maintain safe operating levels. This protects your pump from cavitation and maximizes flow rates. Your pump will automatically throttle up and down based on user-defined variables.
“By choosing to use LightSpeed, you’re choosing to use proven technology tested by leaders in the liquid transfer industry,” Matt reports. “These users have and continue to benefit from the improved ground operations, performance, faster deployment, and increased operator safety.”
Nick Reynolds of Chief’s Pumping Services also spoke on how LightSpeed has improved his company’s efficiency.
