Luckey’s Pumping Service LLC Testimonial
Since 2009, Luckey’s Pumping Service LLC has been using Puck equipment in their custom manure application operation. Based out of Eastern Nebraska, they operate one hose line with about six miles of 8” hose. Luckey’s pumps a range of manure, including swine, cattle, deep pits, lagoons, and more. Depending on the needs of customers and the season, Luckey’s will pump 35-60 million gallons a year.
Equipment Upgrades
Within the past year, Luckey purchased a new Puck Hose Mover, a 4WD Mounted Swingarm, and a Dietrich Series 70 Toolbar. “On our new swinger, we have better valves,” said Luckey. “They’re electric over hydraulic, so we can use fewer SCVs on the tractor.” He also notes that the new slew bearings for the swinger and his new 10” hose mover are an improvement on classic Puck equipment. “The new style slew bearing in the center is much heavier than the previous model we had. I really like it; it just gives us so much more confidence in the field.”
Long Service Life
Luckey’s Pumping Service currently has five different Puck Hose Carts that they regularly use in their manure pumping operation. Three of these hose carts are HC 16s, holding 1 mile of 8” hose. “The HC 16s are just bullet-proof,” said Luckey. “One of ours is probably 12 years old and I think we’ve put a set of tires on it, greased it, and tightened the chains. That’s about all we’ve done.” The minimal maintenance of the HC 16 isn’t the only benefit to Luckey’s Pumping. “We can pack a lot of hose on it, and they’re so user-friendly.”
Two of Luckey’s hose carts are TTR 20s, with a capacity to hold 2 miles of 8” hose. Luckey said he likes the TTR 20 hose reels because “we can get about a mile and a half of hose on them, even more if you do it right.” The hose carts and their robust mobility have helped Luckey’s Pumping Service when laying hose in the field, as well as moving lines. “The ability to steer them while you’re rolling up or unrolling hose, driving next to hose while you’re traveling in the field. It’s super efficient if you’re quickly rolling up a couple pieces of hose to re-lay them a half mile away.”
Customer Service
After working with Puck for more than a decade, Kyle Luckey trusts the Puck staff he works with. “I’ve known them since the beginning, so it’s easy to know everyone as they’ve grown.” Whether he’s calling up customer service, chatting with a sales team member about new equipment, or finding parts for his operation, Luckey can trust the people at Puck. “The Parts Department is great. Call them up and tell them what you got, and they get it.”
