Colby Madsen | National Welding Month

The American Welding Society has declared April as National Welding Month. During this month, they bring awareness to the importance of welding and its career paths since 1996. To celebrate National Welding Month this year, we talked to some staff about their experience as a welder at Puck.

“I really enjoy working in the nice facilities we have here at Puck,” said Colby Madsen. Colby, who has been welding at Puck for over two years, also enjoys the four-day work week our welders have. Production and Fabrication team members work Monday through Thursday at Puck Enterprises each week. “I often work on Fridays for overtime,” added Colby.

Our welders are given kits to weld together at their station. These kits are pallets of metal parts that our CNC department cuts and shapes for a particular piece of equipment. When asked about his favorite piece of Puck equipment to work on, Colby says it’s the Tandem Axle Force Feed. “It’s amazing that we can put all these parts together and then make them function as one unit for our customers.”

Colby admits that some of the welds required for Puck equipment can be a bit challenging. “But it’s still fun at the same time!”
