Top Tier Custom Pumping Testimonial
Austin Weig of Top Tier Custom Pumping LLC out of northeast South Dakota first started pumping with flow rates around 1,000 gallons per minute. After their first Pump School with Puck, they managed to increase their flows to about 1,700 GPM. Austin Weig, owner and operator of Top Tier, credits the education from Pump School. “Just doing the learning, like pressures and where to place booster pumps” has improved their efficiency on jobs.
Top Tier has a few pieces of Puck equipment in their line, including a TTR 20 and an agitation trailer, in addition to a few booster pumps. “We have a newer model of the TTR 20, which has helped us save a ton of time rolling up hose,” says Austin. “We also have an agitation trailer from Puck” he added. “It defeats the purpose of bringing in another tractor with another pump on it at the barn. You can set up quick, get stirring, and get pumping in a short time.”
Improve Efficiency with LightSpeed
The Puck Booster Pumps and Agitation Trailer came standard equipped with the LightSpeed control system. The addition of LightSpeed was another boon to Top Tier’s operational efficiency. “We have LightSpeed on our booster pumps, and that’s been a huge help,” says Austin. LightSpeed has the ability to run anywhere, anytime from any connected, web-enabled device. “We eliminated a guy running back and forth from our manual boosters that we had. With LightSpeed, we can see everything from the cab and shut it down.”
“We originally had analog gauges, and by the time you run them so much, you can’t even read them because they have so much dirty oil on them,” recalls Austin. “Now we have pressure sensors on LightSpeed, and we can just see them right from the tractor cab. That way we know what is going into the pump and how much PSI we’re putting out. It’s on the dot every time, no guessing, no having a person running back to it.”
Austin says that the convenience of a remote startup or shutdown is beneficial for his crew. “If we’re out on a job and have a booster pump sitting out in the field, we can just have someone turn the key on in the morning. Say we get busy with something else, we don’t have to have it running for an hour or two, you just start it up when you’re ready and go.” LightSpeed’s remote startup and shutdown gives your crew automated asset control in near real time at their fingertips.
