Summer Interns 2025

At the start of the 2025 summer, Puck welcomed back two interns who returned to work with the Engineering Department. Owen, who returned for his third summer internship, and Brayton who came back for his second year. They worked under the supervision of our Lead Product Design Engineer, Elliott Barsby. Engineering Manager Matt Lindemann said, “Having the opportunity to be able to bring these guys in and work with them develops both parties and we hope is as equally rewarding this year as it was last year.”

Work for the Summer

Their summer internship kicked off with working on the FF4000-70 boom truck for the industrial fire market. Brayton updated and created new part and weldment drawings. He also created a hood cover for the intake bracket for the engine. Owen created paint numbers for parts that require painting, added weld symbols to drawings, updated sheet metal properties, and added hardware and other missing parts to models. He also worked on a new storage box to be mounted on the truck for adapters and other miscellaneous items. All of these changes are intended to help make Puck manufacturing documentation uniform. This, in turn, will help smooth out the production process and create more efficiencies in manufacturing.

As the summer progressed, the interns got to work on other projects and try new tasks. Owen began making updates on an industrial pump trailer, making modifications specific to industrial use. “We decided to add a few features to this model compared to the ag version,” said Owen. “I’ve primarily been creating new channels for the wiring harness.” In addition to their work in engineering, Owen and Brayton also got to participate in company events and activities, such as the annual Golf Outing.

Experience at Puck

When they initially came back this summer, Owen and Brayton expressed excitement at the chance to dive deeper into our processes and contribute to their improvement. After months of working with Puck engineers and contributing to a wide range of tasks, their summer internship has come to an end. “I am thankful to everyone who has helped me have such a great experience here at Puck,” said Owen. “Thank you for assisting me in learning more about the company, the process, and how to improve aspects of the various projects I have worked on.”

Brayton and Owen worked on a variety of assignments over the summer. These projects, intended to be hands-on learning opportunities, included software model modifications, updating information, and creating new equipment features. Best of luck to our engineering interns as they finish school!
