Pump School Session Information
Operations and Crew Management
This portion of the class is designed to teach better crew efficiencies, roles, and responsibilities. Safety considerations for manure dragline application operations are discussed in depth. Attendees will learn how to safely operate equipment, proper handling techniques for lay-flat hose, how to operate a dragline in the field, and the environmental concerns to be conscious of when pumping.
Friction Loss
This class portion covers the details custom manure applicators need to calculate friction loss in their operation. In addition to calculating friction and pressure loss, this class will provide information on correcting the loss. Pump School attendees learn the effects of changing hose size, easy calculations based on the number of booster pumps on the line, how to navigate around hills, and more.
Safety
Throughout Pump School, safety is emphasized at every stage of learning. Crew members are taught the safety risks of each job in the application line, from agitation to pigging the line, as well as packing up for transport at the end of the day.
