Increase Stability with Outrigger Pads
When maneuvering large equipment on unstable ground, outriggers play an important part in safety and stability. For soft or particularly unstable ground, outrigger pads provide better load distribution to help prevent accidents. Although some operators place wooden boards under outriggers to help distribute weight, this is only a temporary solution.

Every Puck Boom Truck and Tandem Axle Force Feed come equipped with Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW) outrigger pads from Cope Plastics. These pads are made from an extremely durable and slip-resistant plastic to hold outriggers in place. “The Cope Plastic Pads are low profile, they’re very stout,” said Doug Greving, Puck sales team member. “It’s not a board that’s gonna break in half, or splinter, or sink away.” Unlike wood, UHMW plastic is impervious to rot, absorption, and degradation from ground conditions. The tough plastic is resistant to moisture and chemicals for a long lifespan.
Each of Puck’s pump units with extended boom have a storage area for the outrigger pads. These pads are lightweight enough for a single operator to retrieve and place, with an attached handle for easier carrying. For the fastest setup, one operator can extend the outriggers while another sets the outrigger pads in place. Once underneath the outriggers, the UHMW plastic pads distribute the weight across a larger surface area. The non-slip safety surface finish holds the outriggers in place for improved stability. “The pad stays in place and provides that added footprint for what we need on a bigger piece of equipment,” said Doug.
The UHMW Outrigger Pads engineered by Cope Plastics come standard on all of Puck’s Boom Trucks, Force Feed Trailers, and Force Feed Trucks.
