Highlighting Puck’s Fab Department

During National Welding Month, Puck would like to thank our amazing team of welders in our Fabrication Department. Since the start of Puck’s manufacturing, having in-house welders has been a great benefit. The work Puck welders do is a major contribution to the success of the company.

Since building the first hose cart, Puck has been driven by the desire to create the equipment custom manure pumpers need, even if that means doing it ourselves. The Puck fabrication team took on more duties and challenges as product designs became more detailed and made improvements. Today, Puck’s fabrication department has a large number of full time fabrication technicians.

Welding Puck Equipment & Parts

Welding projects at Puck typically fall into one of two categories; large and complex, or small and simple made in high-quantity batches. Cody Girard has seen quite a few end caps for equipment pipework. “They get painted bright yellow and adhere to the end of pipework to seal it off and protect it,” explained Cody. Pump School safety sessions often mention these caps, as they are vital to internal pressures of a pump unit. A clean seal can make all the difference in this relatively small piece.

Alternatively, Ryan Ackerman says he enjoys working on the tandem axle Force Feed Trailers. “It’s very complex, one of the bigger pieces that we work on,” said Ryan. “Here, we separate it into three pieces for welding before we conjoin everything. I find it fun to try and build.” Puck equipment is known for its durability in the field, and that includes our Force Feed Trailers. A solid weld in the chassis can be essential to building a robust, heavy-duty trailer for a long service life.
