The most common large diameter hose sizes for firefighting operations are 5”, 6”, 7-1/4”, and 8” hoses, but BullDog supply hoses range from 3” to 10” hose. Friction from inside the hose can reduce water pressure during transfer. Increasing your hose diameter expands capacity for water to flow, which decreases your pressure loss. A single length (100 feet) of 2-1/2” rubber hose with a flow rate of 400 gallons per minute (GPM) sees a pressure loss of 20 PSI. However, with the same length and flow rate, a 5” rubber hose sees a pressure loss of only 0.54 PSI.

Hi-Vol®
BullDog’s Hi-Vol® supply hose is a tough nitrile rubber hose with a heavy-rib construction. The smooth inner liner reduces friction loss to deliver more GPM for superior efficiency. Highly resistant to chemicals, oils, UV and ozone, Hi-Vol® is compact and durable for improved packability. Nitrile-rubber cover eliminates additional weight issues caused by water pick up during use and greatly increases abrasion resistance, providing a long service life.
A tough, high-tensile cover and lining, permanently interlocked with the synthetic reinforcement, provides greater abrasion and puncture resistance, along with unmatched kink resistance. BullDog’s anti-burst technology ensures that Hi-Vol® is protected from catastrophic bursts, even with a 1/2” diameter hole through both the jacket and liner. Hi-Vol® is a tough supply hose that maintains excellent water flow that will never mildew or rot.
Hi-Vol TPU
An innovative firefighting hose, BullDog’s Hi-Vol TPU is a large diameter hose made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and extruded-through-the-weave with an ultra-smooth liner to minimize friction loss. The TPU cover increases abrasion resistance and eliminates additional weight issues caused by water pick up during use when compared to rubber hose. Hi-Vol TPU provides exceptional chemical resistance, as well as UV and ozone resistance. Its smooth polyurethane finish leads to easier deployment and retrieval, helping you work both faster and smarter.
Hi-Vol TPU XLDH
Take your TPU supply hose a step further with BullDog’s Hi-Vol TPU XLDH. Like the Hi-Vol TPU, the XLDH features a through-the-weave one-piece construction with a high-tenacity polyester woven jacket encapsulated in a tough polyurethane cover and lining. Built specifically for the fireground, Hi-Vol TPU XLDH utilizes state of the art components that limit elongation and provide superior abrasion resistance during fire operations. Available in 7-¼”, 8”, and 10” diameters, the Hi-Vol TPU achieves agility without sacrificing water flow capabilities to bring the best of both worlds to your department.
Both of BullDog’s TPU supply hoses have a long service life. When kept in a coiled configuration, thermoplastic polyurethane hose can be expected to provide dependable service for up to 15 years.
