Dragline operations need 3 to succeed!

Running a dragline is the most efficient manure application method out there—but—it takes a team. You can run a 3-man team. We are here to help. Here are the roles and duties each team member plays.

Site Supervisor:

  • Manure Agitation
  • Lead pump - Maintenance
  • Re-fueling
  • Manure samples
  • Check the line
  • Air compressor location
  • Pigging the line

Hose Mover

  • Must be proactive and ready!
  • Laying drag hose out
  • Place booster pumps
  • Understands friction loss and pump curves
  • Hose moving (using slack)
  • Monitoring the line
  • Pigging the line
  • Rolling hose with a hose cart or hose reel

Application Driver

  • Applying field
  • Know the Manure Management plan
  • Operating LightSpeed
  • Understands friction loss and pump curves
  • Communication
  • Mapping/ paperwork
  • Maintenance

As the full team, you will want to start and finish the manure application job together, as well as plan through the setup plan and the end of the project. You will also do the following:

  • Clean the line – Be ready
  • Clean up – work together
  • Do your paperwork/ documentation
  • Let a manure manager or supervisor know you’re done
